Product details

Hyperthermia as a clinical optimizer of dosage.

The ALBA hypertheria device, developed by Med-Logix srl, is used to improve the effectiveness of cancer treatment in combination with radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Hyperthermia, which is used by the ALBA device, involves heating cancerous tissues to temperatures in the range of 41-43°C. This process helps to increase the effect of radio and chemotherapy on the tumor without increasing the toxicity of the treatment. This approach can be effective in the treatment of various types of cancer.

Hyperthermia is widely used as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of various types of tumors, including breast cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, head and neck cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, and melanoma. The specific types of cancer that can be treated with the ALBA device depend on the characteristics of the tumor, its location, and other factors. Hyperthermia can be effective for small tumors on the surface of the skin or in small body cavities, as well as for deep tumors that are inaccessible to surgery.

Radio Biological rationale:

  • Heats tumors in the range of 41-43°C for 1 hour
  • Combined with radiation therapy or chemotherapy
  • Enhances the effect of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on the tumor, without additional toxicity
  • Effectively optimizes clinical dose-fraction schedules

Inhibition of DNA damage repair: HT increases the effectiveness of radiotherapy by inhibiting the repair of DNA damage.

Direct cell killing: HT selectively kills radioresistant hypoxic tumor cells in particular.

Reoxygenation: HT increases tissue perfusion, resulting in reoxygenation, thereby reducing hypoxia and increasing radiosensitivity. Local hyperthermia has also been shown to induce systemic antitumor immune responses.

Dose escalation of hyperthermia: High temperature and short time interval.

High thermo-dose: High temperature for reoxygenation and more direct cell killing for effective thermo-dose escalation.

Short time interval: This is possible because the devices allow for short preparation and ultra-fast and precise delivery of hyperthermia treatment.

Plan2Heat - hyperthermia treatment planning. 3D calculation in the patient's GTV/PTV: RF power absorption, temperature distribution, TDVH, BED HTR.

ALBA ON4000D - system for superficial and semi-deep hyperthermia

Features:

Accuracy: Automatic focusing on the coordinates of the tumor and optimal compliance with the heated tissue.

Fast preparation for hyperthermy treatment: Short patient preparation time and specialized tools for applicator positioning and collimation of the applicator beam center axis with the center of the GTV/PTV.

High thermal dose: Excellent SAR uniformity and maximum target power delivery results in high dose escalation.

Quality guarantee: Specialized devices, fully compliant with the recommendations of the European Society of Hyperthermic Oncology (ESHO), guarantee a high level of quality of hyperthermia treatment over time.

ALBA 4D is a fully automated device for deep hyperthermia

Features:

  • Good thermal contact to avoid artifacts
  • Real time extensive dosimetry up to 64 sensors in gtv/ptv
  • Quick and easy positioning of the patient
